i wore a lot of things in 2012.
many of them, fortunately, not captured on film.
here are a few that were, as i trudged deeper and deeper through the many layers of my mission to:
dress for the day you want to have,
not the one that’s trying to have you.
so far in this new year, however, i’ve mostly just worn pajamas.
i caught the last cold of 2012 and am ringing it into 2013 with great huffing and puffing and blowing of noses. i’ve planned a contest to see who can guess how many tissues are in my couch-side trash can, but you probably don’t want to know the prize.
instead, in my cold-medicine-induced stupor, i’m looking forward to a full year of dress for the day adventures. this year, i hope to:
- do more with less – money, pieces, fuss.
- work towards those goals - i’ve got some dreams up my schemey sleeves that need some attention.
- run a marathon – more on this later, when my knees stop shaking.
- look, work, and fight for the next thing - in every area of my life, there’s a next thing waiting just around the bend. this year, i want to find it and wrestle it the ground, or crack it out of the ice box it’s hiding in, or whatever the appropriate metaphor is for the next thing. i’m all over it.
and every day of 2013, i’ll have to get dressed.
so i’ll be fueling my days with the clothes on my back, and hope you’ll join me in the adventures. they really are just clothes. it’s true. but when you put them on you, be they target or chanel, clothes become a part of you.
and you are going to do great things in 2013, one day at a time.
what goals have you set for 2013?
how can you dress for the year ahead?
if you’re into buttons, feel free to grab this one, and link up a post or a photo that tells your story below. feel free to link up anytime during the week, and look for a new dress for the day story each wednesday. even if you don’t link up – join me throughout the week on twinstagram (twitter +instagram) by using this hashtag:

Do more with less… I am feeling the need to adopt the same goal.
You’re going to run a marathon?!?! You are my hero, Abby Leigh. I can’t wait to hear more about your dreams and schemes for this year. I have no doubt 2013 is going to be kickawesome. Just like you. xo
I want to continue to dress intentionally. It’s so easy to fall back on yoga pants and t-shirts, but I have a great wardrobe and need to stop saving it for some random future event. Life is happening now!
yes! it’s happening NOW!!! go Rebecca!
A marathon? Wow! Here’s to meeting your goals.
cheers Daenel!
I am so, so, SO ready to be out of maternity clothes. I know there will be the tricky transition before I hit my regular clothes again, but I miss dressing for the day I want to have so much! Pretty much all I can do right now is dress with whatever covers the belly. ;)
Every single one of your outfits are darling beyond words. You have the best eye. Looking forward to ALL of this good stuff for you in 2013!
you are too sweet. those babies are lucky to be growing in such a well-dressed mama. it’s going to be a good year!
Love your outfits! Love your blog, and I love your quote: “dress for the day you want to have,
not the one that’s trying to have you.” Excited I found your blog!
